Azusa Ramen & Sushi, located in Tempe, AZ, brings a charming, yet quirky vibe to the ramen scene. Reviewers appreciate its inviting ambiance, even if the aesthetics—bright green walls and Nashville country music—may leave some feeling puzzled. However, the true stars at Azusa are the dishes themselves.
Patrons rave about the Azusa Ramen, especially the option to customize spiciness levels and choose between hard or soft boiled eggs. While flavors can be hit or miss, many find the smoky chashu a standout, though some have noted that the garlic oil could be overwhelming. For sushi lovers, the rolls are surprisingly generous and well-priced, with options like crunchy tuna and spicy girl rolls that keep guests satisfied long after their meal.
The attentive and friendly service is consistently highlighted, adding to the overall enjoyable experience. Families will appreciate the kid-sized ramen and the well-thought-out punch card reward system that invites repeat visits. Azusa is more than just a ramen shop; it's a destination where comfort and flavor collide, making it a must-try for both locals and visitors alike.

Does their name literally mean AZ, USA? What an odd little restaurant. Seating is pretty limited, but it’s clean and inviting. I don’t quite understand the choice of green paint, nor their obsession with Nashville country music, both of which left me feeling confused and wanting to get the hell outta there. Now, onto the ramen. I ordered the Azusa Black, medium spicy, with a hard boiled egg. I appreciate the option between hard and soft boiled, levels of spicyness, as well as their concern for allergies. The presentation of the bowl was beautiful, as well. However, the flavors didn’t quite hit me right. The garlic oil was pretty heavy, and the little crispy fried onions quickly turned to mush and took away from the clarity of the broth. The chashu was a chunk of a slice and smoky delicious. Overall I’d give this bowl a 7 out of 10. I’ll plan to come back and try a couple more bowls. I like that I can sit and have a beer, and the kids ramen option is something you don’t see at most ramen shops, so I’ll definitely be bringing the children next time. And what’s more, they have punch cards that give you a free bowl of ramen for every 10 you buy! Azusa is quirky and awkward in appearance but they serve some serious eats. We’ll see how they hold up after round 2. EDIT: I’ve now been here almost ten times, and it’s quickly become one of my favorite Japanese restaurants in town. Service has always been solid, food is consistently good, and we love how they serve “kid size” bowls of ramen.

This place was amazing! My sister and I came here for a late lunch, and it was lovely. Our waitress was very kind and we shared an order of pork gyoza; I got the crunchy tuna roll and the California roll, while my sister got the spicy girl roll. All were fairly priced (honestly, maybe a bit underpriced considering how good they were)! However, if you decide to get two roll orders, expect to get stuffed. I was extremely hungry since I hadn't had breakfast, but even a couple hours after I finished, I still feel like I'm never going to be hungry again, LOL. That's not a bad thing, though. Definitely check this place out!

Excellent food!! I had the Azusa Ramen, shrimp appetizer and spring rolls. Everything was delicious staff was friendly attentive. Cozy dining area. There’s a fry’s next door so you can get your groceries list done while you are eating.

This place is a 10/10, service is phenomenal! Food is really good and the decorations are really entertaining to look around. I recommend visiting, prices are very reasonable. Something i personally liked, it was the water cups, they keep your water nice a fresh since they’re made of steel.

The sushi and apps were enjoyable and they offer great Happy Hour prices. I just wish they had more Happy Hour options for sushi rolls. The ambiance is pretty easygoing - good for a relaxed Happy Hour vibe.

Azusa Ramen in Tempe has been our beloved dining spot for years, and for good reason! Their curry ramen boasts a rich, flavorful broth that keeps us coming back for more. The miso ramen offers a perfect balance of savory and hearty, while the Azusa black is a must-try for its unique, bold flavors. Don't miss out on their delectable sides like the Shuman and gyoza, which complement the main dishes perfectly. What's even better is the value for money you get here - delicious food at reasonable prices. Whether you choose to dine in and soak in the cozy ambiance or opt for the convenience of delivery or pickup, Azusa Ramen delivers consistently excellent food and service every time. Highly recommended for any ramen enthusiast looking for a satisfying and enjoyable dining experience!

I love this place! We had takoyaki, calamari and the shrimp plate as appetizer. The shrimp plate is amazing, the crispy layer outside of the shrimp is perfect. For main, My husband had the pork katsu and I had curry ramen. They both are amazingly done and we enjoyed it every much! The pork slice in the ramen was huge which surprised me cause in other ramen restaurants they are usually tiny and thin. Will definitely come back again!
